All mankind is divided into three classes: those who are immovable, those who are movable and those who move.

Do I have to believe the same things that John of God and his staff believe?
0 Comments Published by agiser December 7th, 2006 in UncategorizedNO, not at all. You are not required or expected or pressured to believe what they believe.
John of God and the other healers and staff at the Casa de Dom Ignacio act fully and completely out of their beliefs and convictions, but they make no demands on you to believe the same things as they do. All are welcome. There is absolutely no attempt to convert anyone to anything. If they did, I would be gone so fast it would make your head spin.
John of God and “the bubble”
0 Comments Published by agiser December 6th, 2006 in Casa de Dom Inacio, Abadiania“The bubble” is what many of us foreigners call the neighborhood around the Casa de Dom Igacio (the healing center). We call it the bubble because you can feel the healing energies and the magicalness in that entire section of Abadiania. Some times it is subtle, sometimes it is very strong. to me, sometimes its like being bathed in warm, loving energy. It depends, of course, on your openness to feeling energy. Even friends of mine who typically don’t feel energy can often feel it there. As you leave Abadiania for Brasilia to fly home, you can feel it when you leave the bubble. You really notice the difference when you return home!
We also call it the bubble because of it is a special environment filled with people who are open to the spiritual and unseen aspects of reality; without requiring adherence to any particular dogma or particular religious beliefs. There is a great freedom to believe what ever you believe.
John of God, Is it difficult to go see him? Part I

No!
It is actually quite easy to see John of God.
Even if you are in a wheel chair or have difficulty traveling; warm, experienced, and friendly assistance is available.
John of God and the Casa de Dom Ignacio, his healing center, are in Abadiania in central Brazil.
If you are outside of Brazil, you will probably have to fly into Sao Paulo or Rio de Janeiro first. (or into some other South American city). There are a lot of flights to Brasilia from Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo, but few international flights go directly there (they keep saying their will be more international flights, but who knows when?). Personally I like to spend a few days in Rio before I go to Abadiania (great if you can spare the time and if you are feeling well). If you do intend to be a tourist somewhere in Brazil; do so before you go to Abadiania! Many of us get very sensitive to energy after we are in Abadiania (especially if you stay more than one week). It can make other places seem very intense by comparison. On my way home I go through Rio, but I stick to the beach and very calm restaurants.
From Rio, Sao Paulo or wherever you are in South America, you then fly to Brasilia, the capital of Brazil.. The airport at Brasilia is fairly small, beautiful, and open air in front. It’s one of my favorite airports, very pleasant and easy to deal with. The staff at Brazilian airports are normally very friendly and helpful. There are numerous ATM machines on the lower level in front, near where you pick up a taxi. If you have a foreign ATM card, only a few of the machines will accept it. And they may or may not actually work (part of the charm of Brazil). There are NO ATMs in Abadiania at this time (you can change dollars and Euros). See the upcoming post on “money” for more information.
It is easiest to arrange to get a taxi from Abadiania to pick you up. The price is a set price, the drivers are nice, and every driver I have had drives safely and courteously (a miracle in itself). See the page on Taxis for more information. There are also wonderful people who can help you if you are in a wheel chair or need special assistance. See the page on “angels”.
I suggest making a reservation in advance at a Posada, the small Brazilian Inns (see the age on Posada). If not, the driver can help you find a place (if that gets complicated and time consuming, then I would pay them something extra for their help). Normally, you do not tip Taxi drivers in Brazil, and doing so is not a great idea, unless the circumstances are unusual.
To sum up, it’s easier to get to Abadiania than to get to some destinations in Europe or the US. And its very inexpensive to stay there, but that will be another post!

John of God (João de Deus) Miracle Man of Brazil
0 Comments Published by agiser December 5th, 2006 in John of God, Casa de Dom Inacio- They come from all over to world to find a miracle. Buses pull up everyday carrying people, some healthy, some here to help loved ones, some very ill. Many Brazilians and other South Americans, of course, and increasingly they are come from America, England, Ireland, France, Italy, Switzerland, Greece , Australia, New Zealand, and Germany. A few are from Asia. Why are they in Abadiania, a small Brazilian town 1.5 hours from Brasilia (the capital of Brazil)?
They have come to see “João de Deus” (John of God) the “miracle man of Brazil”. He has been healing people for 45 years; starting when he was 16 years old. Twenty eight years ago he founded his “spiritual hospital”, the Casa de Dom Inacio (The House of St Ignacius) in the small town of Abadiania, Brazil. Joao has been healing hundreds to thousands of people a day, every Wed, Thursday, and Friday.
In 2005, the ABC television network show, Primetime Live, devoted an hour to the Casa and John of God.. Documentaries on Joao have also been shown on the Discovery Channel, Irish TV and elsewhere.
In 1991 he a Peruvian medal of honor for the work he did with the president of Peru, his son, and 20,000 other Peruvians.
I have been to the Casa 6 times-each time for 4-5 weeks. This blog will be useful for people who are new to the Casa, and for people who have been in “the bubble” and want to share their insights, experiences, and practical tips. Abadainia is a magical place, where spiritual growth is easily enhanced, and where many people claim to have experienced miracles
